A metaverse, and there are multiple which combined are called the Multi-verse, is a shared digital space where people can interact with each other and with digital objects in a realistic way. One can think of the metaverse as a cross between the real world and the virtual world of video games. While the concept of the metaverse is still in its early stages, there are already a few popular examples, such as Decentraland, Minecraft, and Fortnite.
Mobile is the great platform for the metaverse because it allows users to take their avatar with them wherever they go and interact with other people in this format no matter where they are. Some have predicted that the metaverse will eventually replace the mobile phone as the primary way people communicate with each other. To that end, Facebook, as many know, changed there name to Meta partly because they missed the video revolution (deferring to YouTube and TikTok) and want to get ahead of the Metaverse revolution. While that may seem like a far-fetched idea, it's not hard to see how it could happen.
