The Explosion of Mobile [PIC]

Mobile technology has exploded worldwide in the past decade and shows no sign of stopping or fueling disruption.

The explosion in access to mobile phones and digital services means that people everywhere are contributing vast amounts of information to the global knowledge warehouse. Moreover, they are doing so for free, just by communicating, buying and selling goods and going about their daily lives. Ban Ki-moon

Doug Stephens in his presentation “The Future of the Store” shows some great slides exemplifying the explosion. The slides are below and you can watch his entire, interesting presentation at this link.

In 2005, the mobile revolution was just beginning, in this picture at the funeral of Pope John Paul II at St. Peters Basilica in Vatican City you can see one lonely mobile phone with a person trying to take a picture of the event.

In 2013 at the same location, just 8 years later, for the inauguration of Pope Francis it is easy to see how much mobile technology has affected all of our lives!

THE PENETRATION OF MOBILE TECHNOLOGY INTO PRODUCTION, POPULAR CULTURE AND OUR LIVES HAS BEEN AMAZING. THIS EXPLOSION OF MOBILE TECH IS FUELING DISRUPTIVE BUSINESSES LIKE UBER AND AMAZON.

Predicting the future here is what Doug Stephens jokingly presented what the day the world ends would look like (LOL)
